Some B-52H bombers will be denuclearized under the New START treaty with Russia so that they can serve as conventional bombers.
Gen. C. Robert Kehler, head of the U.S. Strategic Command, told lawmakers that the exact number has not been determined. However, 40 B-52s and 20 B-2s will retain their nuclear role.

How will the B-52’s that are converted be recognizable to Russian surveillance? will they take our word for it?
I only ask because when the ALCM came online, the US had to modify ALCM capable G model B-52’s with a blended wing/fuselage so those aircraft were identifiable via satellite. All the H models with their different engine pods were ALCM capable, so they were not modified.
