C-5M makes first non-stop, polar route from U.S. to Afghanistan

A C-5M Super Galaxy flew a non-stop, polar route from Dover Air Force Base to Afghanistan on Jun. 5 and 6, making it the first U.S. Air Force aircraft to do so.

The flight took the aircraft over over Canada, the Arctic Circle, then through Russia and Kazakhstan with one inflight refueling over Canada.
