Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told journalists on Friday that Moscow has no intentions to build aircraft carriers before 2020.
“So far, no money has been allocated as part of the [state weapons procurement] program for the period up to 2020. [United Shipbuilding Corporation general director Roman] Trotsenko’s announcement that we are about to start building aircraft carrying cruisers is not true, to put it mildly,” Serdyukov said.
