The Texas Army National Guard has retired its last AH-64A, 90-00451, and the aircraft will return to Boeing and re-manufactured into a D model.
This Apache is special as its crew used it to medevac an injured solider on Jun. 30, 2007 in Iraq. The co-pilot gave up his seat for the wounded solider and he strapped himself to the wing and fuselage.
