Russia wants to deploy two Il-38 naval reconnaissance planes at the French base in Djibouti for anti-piracy missions in the Gulf of Aden.
The request was made by Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov at the meeting of the Russian-French Security Cooperation Council in Paris.
