During a routine patrol mission by HMCS Ottawa’s CH-124 Sea King helicopter, the crew chanced upon a family of trapped sea turtles.
The crew lowered the sensor operator down the rescue hoist into the water to attempt to free the turtles caught in a net, when that failed, they radioed the ship and a diving team helped free the animals.
