772nd Expeditionary Airlift Squadron executed first combat Extracted Container Delivery System

The Extracted Container Delivery System (XCDS) was used in a combat airdrop for the first time on Apr. 27.

The complex task was executed by the 772nd Expeditionary Airlift Squadron in Afghanistan.

The new method uses an additional parachute to pull the bundles out of the aircraft at a faster rate than the current airdrop process, which relies on gravity.
