The last defendant in the criminal case over deliveries of low-quality MiG-29SMTs to Algeria has been given a four-year suspended sentence.
Mikael Kazaryan, former general director of the Rezon, had sold outdated equipment using forged certificates and tags. These equipment were installed on Algeria’s MiG-29s.
Algeria suspended deliveries after 15 jets were delivered in May 2007, all were returned back to Russia in exchange for 16 Su-30MKA and the MiG contract was canceled.
