According to Defense News, Turkey is likely to buy China’s HQ-9 air defense system exported by China Precision Machinery Export-Import Corp.
But the system could face obstacles when integrating into Turkey’s networked air defense system as half is paid by NATO and the alliance will not allow a Chinese system to join the network.
The HQ-9 will also face difficulties differentiating Turkish F-16s and enemy aircraft as its IFF system is different.
