Reuters say Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is in advanced talks to be a F-35 supplier to BAE System.
The deal hinges on whether Tokyo is willing to give subsidies to MHI for the manufacture of components for the rear fuselage. Without a subsidy, Mitsubishi Heavy would struggle to make components for BAE without incurring a loss.
