Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Moscow plans to send bombers to patrol across the Gulf of Mexico.
Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said “Russians have patrolled in the Gulf (of Mexico) in the past.”
“It’s important that the Russians conduct their operations safely and in accordance with international standards,” he added.
