Japanese court ruled that government compensate Fuji Heavy Industries over AH-64 contract

A Tokyo District Court has ordered the government to pay compensation to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. for cancelling orders to buy 52 AH-64D attack helicopters.

Japan’s Defense Ministry initially planned to buy 62 helicopters and Fuji Heavy Industries paid licensing fees to Boeing upfront in order to manufacture the rotorcraft in the country.

Fuji had intended to recover its investments by selling the 62 aircraft, however, the Defense Ministry ended up buying only 10 Apaches.
