Turkey’s Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, in a written response to a parliamentary question, said the new air defense missile system being purchase will not be integrated with NATO’s infrastructure.
Yilmaz added that Turkey plans to go ahead with the selection of China’s HQ-9. However, the undersecretariat for defense industries later said in a statement that “(they) are continuing discussions with all the bidders.”
