Tu-95 flights forced Irish Aviation Authority to divert airliners

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) admitted on Mar. 3 that it had to delay a commercial flight and divert another one when Russia Tu-95 bombers flew through Irish-controlled airspace without warning on Feb. 18.

The IAA statement stated: “The first Russian incursion into Irish-controlled airspace was 88km off the coast. The second was much nearer, just 19km outside our sovereign airspace and the incursion lasted from 3pm to 7pm.”
