India’s Advanced Air Defence interceptor fails shortly after test launch

India has suffered a setback in its bid to create a missile defense shield when a test firing of the Advanced Air Defence interceptor failed on Apr. 6.

The missile was launched from a canister for the first time. According to media reports, the interceptor was able to clear the canister successfully.

However, a few seconds later, it veered off course and crashed. This is the seventh test of the AAD and the first failure.
