First flight test of SM-3 Block IIA

The U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has conducted the first flight test of the SM-3 Block IIA interceptor.

The test, designated SM-3 Block IIA Cooperative Development Controlled Test Vehicle-01, successfully demonstrated flyout through nosecone deployment and third stage flight.
