The U.S. government has approved the sale of the Raytheon AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radar, to be used in forward-based mode, to several U.S. allies and security partners via Foreign Military Sales.

The radar is currently approved for export as the fire control radar of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. It operates as a terminal-mode in this configuration. In forward-based mode, the AN/TPY-2 is used to track ballistic missiles in the boost phase.
