Four more squadrons will follow VMFA-121’s footsteps in transitioning to the F-35B stealth fighter, the U.S. Marine Corps has announced.

VMA-211 will be next and the unit will receive their first F-35B in 2016. It will be fully operational with the new jet within two years.
Starting from 2018, VMFA-122 will trade in their F/A-18s. Another Hornet squadron, VMFA-115, is next on the move in early 2020s.
Once VMFA-115 has started its transition, VMA-311 will follow suit.
