Italy blocking India’s entry into Missile Technology Control Regime

Italy has blocked India’s application to join the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) group, citing the ongoing Enrica Lexie case.

Two Italian marines are under custody in India for allegedly opening fire on a fishing vessel and killing two Indian fishermen on Feb. 15, 2012.

The news report says Italy wants the release of the two in exchange for lifting its block on India’s application.
