A F/A-18C from VMFA-232 crashed near Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England while returning to its home base at MCAS Miramar on Oct. 21. The pilot was killed in the crash.

The jet was part of a six-aircraft formation that just completed a six-month deployment to the Middle East. All five other jets safely diverted to RAF Lossiemouth.
