A F/A-18E pilot from VFA-137 who buzzed UC Berkeley on Jan. 27 was found to have complied with all Federal Aviation Administration rules and Navy safety regulations, the U.S. Navy said on Oct. 26.
Furthermore, his elevation and flight path was cleared by the FAA. Nevertheless, the sailing branch will convene a Field Naval Aviator Evaluation Board to “examine the aeronautical judgment of the aviator during the flight.” The board will decide whether the pilot “should retain flight status.”
