A IAF Boeing 707 tanker that was supporting the deployment of fighters to Red Flag flew the longest flight in IAF history by flying home from the United States to Israel non-stop.

The tanker was supposed to support the fighters on the return trip but on the first leg of the journey, the aircraft broke down. A decision was later made to load the jet with additional fuel and fly straight home to Nevatim Airbase, a 6,000 mile journey.
