The Indian Army has decided not to proceed with phase 2 of the indigenous Nishant unmanned aerial vehicle program after three of the four aircraft delivered under phase 1 were lost in crashes.

In phase 2, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was suppose to deliver another eight aircraft. This would have help the DRDO to recover back some of the development costs.
