John Baird, vice-president of Poland programmes for Raytheon, told IHS Jane’s that the program will be carried out in three phases.
Phase 1 will see Poland taking delivery of the Patriot III Plus configuration. This is the current in production and this will allow Poland to deploy units in the fastest way.
Phase 2 is a development program and at Phase 3, the radar will be upgraded to a gallium nitride (GaN) AESA front end. The system will be fully 360° coverage with the addition of two smaller radar panels at the sides.
