Netherlands, Norway and Poland selected the A330 MRTT under a program named Multinational MRTT Fleet (MFF) whereby they will jointly use the tankers. Now, Germany has indicated that it will join the MFF as well.

Germany needs a new tanker to replace its A310 aerial tanker. It joined the MFF as an observer in April this year and plans to sign up as a partner in the second quarter of next year.
