Since inducting the Su-30MKI into service, the Indian Air Force has to wait 12 months for a spare part to be produced once the requirement is raised. This is set to change with the signing of a long term spares agreement with Russia.

Once implemented, it will take just 30 days for the spare part to be manufactured, cutting away red-tape involving license, customs clearance and bank guarantees.
This in turn will boost the fleet’s operational readiness from 50 percent to 60 percent and higher.
