Embraer officials told Defense News the company will submit a bid to provide Canada with search-and-rescue aircraft by offering the KC-390.

Geraldo Gomes, vice president of business development for Embraer Defense and Security, cited the aircraft’s speed and range as an advantage in the competition.
Instead of having a fixed figure for the number of aircraft to be acquired, bidders will have to submit the number of aircraft they believe necessary for Canada to handle the needed search-and-rescue capability.
