Former UH-1P crew chiefs waited 46-years for their Silver Stars

On Feb. 20, 1969 near Duc Lap, Vietnam, the crew of a UH-1P assigned to the 20th Special Operations Squadron flew a dangerous mission that saved a six-man Army long-range reconnaissance patrol. The pilots were later given the Silver Star but clerical errors and lost paperwork resulted in the crew chiefs not getting their Silver Stars until Dec. 17 this year.
