Spokesman for China’s Ministry of Defense, Senior Col. Yang Yujun, has confirmed during a press conference today that the country’s second aircraft carrier is under construction.

The conventionally-powered ship will have a displacement of around 50,000 tonnes. A shipyard in Dalian is assembling the warship.
