The U.S. Air Force has confirmed that a RoCAF F-16 student pilot was involved in a crash in Arizona on Jan. 21. Base officials said the student was having air-to-air combat training with an instructor when his F-16, assigned to the 21st Fighter Squadron, went down for still unknown reasons.

Speaking at a press conference, Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus, commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke, said “all indications lead [him] to believe that the pilot did not survive the accident.”
Pleus added that the wingman remained at the scene for 30 minutes before being relieved by two F-35s that were sent to the scene.
