The U.S. Air Force will send four F-35As from Nellis Air Force Base to Mountain Home Air Force Base later this month to test whether the jet can operate while away from its home base.

This will be part of the assessment for the F-35A in order to declare Initial Operational Capability later this year.
Maj. Gen. Jay Silveria, head for the Warfare Center, said his team will deliver the F-35A assessment report to Gen. Hawk Carlisle in July.
