RAAF flights in South China Sea increasingly challenged by China

Royal Australian Air Force maritime flights over South China Sea are increasingly being challenged by China, Air Force chief Air Marshal Leo Davies has revealed.

Australia has been using its P-3Cs for patrols over the Indian Ocean and South China Sea since the late 1980s under Operation Gateway. The aircraft are based out of RMAF Butterworth.

Davies added that there has been a “slight increase” in the number of flights destined for South China Sea.
