Israel’s Air Defense Forces commander said Russia military in Syria not a threat

Speaking at a press conference for Juniper Cobra 2016, commander of Israel’s Air Defense Forces assured reporters that the Russian military now deployed to Syria is not a threat.

“The Russian presence in the Middle East in recent months is a fact. Russia is not an enemy of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) or the Israel Air Force,” Brig. Gen. Tzvika Haimovich said.

Haimovich did acknowledged that Russian aircraft had violated Israeli air space at least twice in the past half year.
