Mitsubishi Electric Corp. says it is ready to adapt radars and sensors developed for the military to help autonomous driving cars navigate around obstacles.

A senior chief engineer at Mitsubishi’s automotive equipment division, said in an interview with Bloomberg that despite a head start by competitors, his company will be able to catch up next year by benefiting “from its expertise in high-precision sensors and electric-power steering systems.”
For a start, the company will start manufacturing components for lane-keeping and automatic braking systems next year.
