Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa was established in 2012 to quickly reinforce U.S. diplomatic outposts in Africa following the deadly attack in Libya.
Marine Corps spokeswoman Capt. Sarah Burns said the transfer “will help the Marine Corps’ overall plan to restore readiness to its aviation fleet.”
