Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and former Air Force chief Prajin Juntong told reporters that Bangkok is interested in getting four more Gripen fighters. Juntong made the comments after meeting Swedish ambassador Staffan Herrstrom.

However, the deputy head of the Swedish mission to Thailand, said on May 11 that Herrstrom and Juntong did not discuss on the sale of Gripen fighters during the meeting.
The Royal Thai Air Force currently operates 12 Gripens and Juntong said ideally the 701 Squadron should have 16 operational jets.
