The U.S. Air Force ended the B-21 bomber naming contest on May 5 and more than 4,600 entries were received. Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James announced that a name will be selected this fall.

USAF wants to convert C-37B into electronic attack platform
The U.S. Air Force has requested $165.7 million in the FY 2017 defense budget to convert the C-37B – military designation for the G550 – into an electronic attack platform that will eventually replace the EC-130H.

China scrambled 2 J-11s and 1 Y-8 AEW during DDG 110’s FON in Spratly Islands
China said it scrambled two J-11 fighters and a Y-8 airborne early warning aircraft from the People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF) when USS William P. Lawrence (DDG-110) conducted a “freedom-of-navigation” operation near Fiery Cross Reef on May 10.

Pilots blamed for ground collision at Red Flag 15-4
