The Boeing KC-46A tanker is required to complete a series of in-flight refueling tests with a variety of Air Force, Marines and Navy aircraft before a Milestone C production decision can be made. The tanker managed to sign off all the checklists on Jul. 15 by refueling the A-10 with 1,500 pounds of fuel.
The other aircraft that took on fuel from the newest tanker include: C-17, F-16, F/A-18 and AV-8B.
The U.S. Air Force said in its press release that the Milestone C decision to begin low-rate initial production is expected in August.
