The two chemicals have been linked to health problems ranging from testicular and kidney cancers to birth defects and liver damage.
The chemicals have been detected in water at some current and former bases where the military has conducted fire or crash training as well.
The current foam will no longer be used during training exercises and all fire vehicles and fire stations will switch to a new formulae by end of this year.
