Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has confirmed that the country’s aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov will be heading to the Mediterranean to join a naval task force there.

For the past few months, Russian media had reported that the carrier will be heading to Syria and the jets on board will be used for air strikes in that country.
