Boeing not USAF will decide what IRST to adopt for F-15C/D

The U.S. Air Force has decided to let Boeing decide which infrared search and track (IRST) senor will be installed as part of the upgrade program for the F-15C/D air superiority fighter.

Flight Global says such a move will deny losing bidders a chance to file a protest with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO).

A total of 132 sensors will be purchased and given to 100 active duty squadrons and 25 for the Air National Guard. The rest will be utilized as test assets.
