Taiwan will begin the conversion of four F-16s to the V model from Jan. 16 next year, Air Force Command Chief of Staff Fan Ta-wei disclosed during a meeting of the Foreign and National Defense Committee.

The project, dubbed Phoenix Rising, will be carried out by Aerospace Industrial Development Corp (AIDC).
The aim is to upgrade between 25 and 28 F-16s every year. A total of 144 F-16s are to be upgraded.
