It is rare for a fighter pilot to log more than 4,000 hours on a aircraft type, and a A-10 pilot with the 303rd Fighter Squadron recently clocked an astonishing 6,000 hours on the attack jet on Nov. 14.
Having seen combat in the first Gulf War, he has a total of 11 combat deployments after three decades of flying.
Lt. Col. John Marks plans to continue flying the A-10 and has the potential to reach 7,000 hours.
