Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has indicated that he will think through a decision to give preemptive strike capability to the Japan Self-Defense Force.
The capability has been considered by previous governments with no decision reached.
Japan wants a preemptive strike option to target North Korea’s missile sites before the weapons can be launched.
Three options are on the table: a ballistic missile attack, a cruise missile strike and lastly an air raid using the F-35.
