After breaking up with Raytheon as its American partner for the T-X competition, Leonardo has decided to go alone and compete in the U.S. Air Force competition.

It will do so using its U.S.-subsidary, Leonardo DRS, as prime contractor.
Questions remain on where the T-100 advanced jet trainer will be assembled if the Italian aerospace company secures the contract.
