News outlets in Taiwan report that the country’s Air Defense Missile Command, currently reporting directly to the Ministry of National Defense, will be merge under the Air Force on Mar. 1.

The island’s PAC-3, Tien Kung and HAWK air defense missile systems are assigned to this command. While the Air Force’s Air Defense Artillery Command takes charge of the short-range anti-aircraft guns and Sparrow missiles.
Once merge, all the air defense weapon systems will come under a single command and it will be elevated to a corps-level unit led by a lieutenant general.
