Italian aircraft manufacturer Leonardo is protesting against Canada’s selection of the rival C295W as the winner of the Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft competition.

Canada selected the Airbus on Dec. 8 for the contract which is worth up to $3.6 billion.
Leonardo wants a Canadian court to overturn the decision, arguing that the C27J is not only cheaper, it is also better suited for operations in the Arctic.
