KAI’s CEO offers to resign

The CEO of Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd (KAI), Ha Sung-yong, has offered to step down amidst the Surion utility helicopter scandal.


Last week, state procecutors raided KAI’s headquarters to gather evidence of wrongdoing. KAI has been accused of cooking the books in order to pocket $21 million from the development costs of the indigenous helicopter.

Last year, Ha claimed that he would resign if the KAI fails to win the U.S. Air Force T-X advanced jet trainer contest.
