The aircraft – equipped with the Modular Airborne Firefighting System – was heading to a wildfire in Tuolumne County, Cal Fire says.
Abc30 reports that cars in northeast Fresno and the River Park area were covered with red spots.
Cal Fire Unit Chief Mark Johnson assured residents and businesses that the retardant is non-toxic.
