A Foreign Military Sale package of 12 A-29s to Nigeria worth $593 million has been cleared by the U.S. State Department on Aug. 3.

The news release by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency says the aircraft “will support Nigerian military operations against terrorist organizations Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa, and Nigerian efforts to counter illicit trafficking in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea.”
